Ideal closet

Beige, grey and black work so well together. It's the harmony of the neutrals probably.
Now tell me, do you think there is any other piece of clothes that can beat the Burberry trench coat? In terms of hit piece that will stand time and trends I mean. It goes with everything and everywhere and I'm loving the more grundge vive that this top and boots give to this outfit.
How would you pair the Burberry trench?

My Stuff Series **Brunch at Saks**

Brunch at saks was one of the very first blogs I started following. Annemarie is this utterly sweet LA girl who blogs about a mix of beautiful topics, from fashion to interiors, throwing in the mix recipes and lifestyle. Just the right amount of amazingness to make me want to be her friend!

Inspirations
Favorite discovery: Amazon.com! I know it's not really a discovery per se, but I'm addicted. If you're a magazine lover, definitely go there for subscriptions. Most are around $10 for the entire year!
Favorite place in the world: It's a tie between Napa Valley and Hawaii.
Style icon: Lauren Conrad, Audrey Hepburn, and Olivia Palermo
Favorite movie: Breakfast at Tiffany's, When Harry Met Sally, Father of the Bride

Clothes
Underwear: Gilly Hicks or Victoria's Secret
Watch: I've been obsessed with white watches as of late, so I alternate between my March Jacobs and Michael Kors
Day dress and day bag: Skinny jeans, light sweater, flats (or boots if it's raining), sunglasses, and a really big bag. I carry everything but the kitchen sink in my bag, so I tend to buy oversized totes mostly.
Evening dress: Skinny jeans, embellished top, and heels, or simple a black dress with heels.
Jeans: J.Crew or J Brand
Shoes: Kate Spade or Tory Burch flats

Home
Where you live: Los Angeles
Favorite Art: I love Dallas Shaw's gorgeous drawings.
Bedding: West Elm
Coffee Table Books: Domino, Architectural Digest, Rachel Ashwell Interiors, BAZAAR Style, Veranda Magazine
Flowers: White Hydrangeas, Peonies, White Roses

Beauty
Perfume: Ralph Lauren Romance
Moisturizer: California Baby Sensitive Lotion. I have gluten & dairy allergies, and this lotion is free of those ingredients, plus it makes my skin incredibly soft.
Mascara: Loreal Voluminous mascara. I've tried every mascara imaginable, but I always go back to this one. I swear by it!
Shampoo: AVEDA Shampure
Blush: Bare Minerals in Rose Radiance Lipstick: NARS in Turkish Delight

Thanks Annemarie!

Decorate: Book Review

Last Friday I opened a package and it was Holly Becker's new book: Decorate, co-authored with Joanna Copestick. The book has a beautiful cover (I really like the UK one the best) and is big, chunky, thick and chock full with stunning inspiration.

It is difficult for me to chose my favorites bits, but I found myself drawn to the girliness of Rita Konig and Liz Bauer.

There are tips by well known designers, bloggers and professionals of the sector that make this book an invaluable source for everything decoration. And another thing I really enjoyed is the diversity. I love girly stuff but also enjoy the masculine perspective and I love white spaces but also adore flea market style and this book gives you exactly that: diversity. All in all I think Holly and Joanna have done an incredibly amazing job and Decorate is definitely a MUST HAVE.
Can't wait to meet Holly at the book launch next month at Liberty!

Light!

This living room has many of the elements I love: several seating options, neutrals and colors, wood and textures, everything fits beautifully in place.
All the natural light is another plus and what caught my eye was the mid century-ish(?) furniture.
It's friday, yay!

An Ikea balcony

One of the bits I like the most at Ikea is their garden/summer furniture. I'm always very excited to see what new they have, might be because it's not year long available! The Ikea blog has some pretty fantastic stylings, I love seeing their inspiration, they do a great styling job, it's all on Swedish, which means I understand 0 but I do thoroughly enjoy their ideas. Just like the ones below, I would so love my little balcony to look like that! Actually I might give it a go now that spring is here!

Ideal closet

This look is SO not right for the incredibly fabulous weather we are enjoying here in London these last couple of days, but I am still loving it. Love the contrast of the silk blouse with the rock n' roll bit of the leather jacket. I think it's very mix and match, and might have included one to many trends, but I love it no matter what!
PS: I like putting these "ideal closet" posts together, and you seem to enjoy them too so they might become a regular feature, would that be something cool to you? and would you like me to include prices or you couldn't care less?
Also, do you have any particular look you would want to see? Have somewhere to go and not sure what to wear? You might like what I put together so email me and I'll make it happen: ExCITED!!

My Stuff Series **Design Darling**

very very very excited to have the beautiful Mackenzie from Design Darling today. her blog is chock full with beautiful inspiration, from fashion to interiors and shopping. She is part of the very succesful Rue team and I am sure a very very bright future is just around the corner. Please welcome Mackenzie!

Inspirations
Favorite discovery:Blogging! I started Design Darling in November 2009 and have loved every second. It has been so rewarding to share my creative influences with my readers and to meet so many like-minded friends along the way!
Favorite place in the world: I adore New York, Paris, and Amsterdam. But if I want to escape the hustle and bustle, it’s our family home on Nantucket, a tiny island thirty miles off the coast of Massachusetts. Bike rides, old lighthouses, shingled cottages... For me, it’s heaven on earth.
Style icon: Olivia Palermo. I have yet to see a picture of her in which she’s not perfectly polished from head to toe! We share a penchant for tailored silhouettes and high high heels. As it happens, I would also move into her old Tribeca apartment in a heartbeat!
Favorite movie: For old-school films, I love À Bout de Souffle (1960) and The Graduate (1967). The first is full of Parisian flair and I adore the 60’s fashion of the second: leopard coats, shift dresses, and elegant updos.

Clothes
Underwear: Hanky Panky or Victoria’s Secret. Though I’ve been known to dash to the Walmart near campus in order to procrastinate laundry... Oops!
Watch: I must get better about wearing one! They’re such chic accessories but I’m always checking my phone for the time. I love this tortoiseshell watch by Michael Kors.
Day dress and day bag: My go-to look is an oxford shirt from Rugby, BDG skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters, and cowboy boots I’ve had for so long you could call them vintage. On campus I’m usually toting a navy blue Longchamp book bag.
Evening dress: I love J.Crew’s dress collection but lately I’ve been getting into Rent The Runway. They have some of my favorite designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Haute Hippie, and Milly. It’s such fun to spend only $50 and get to wear a designer dress for a night!
Jeans: Oops, I already answered this one! But I cannot say enough good things about BDG skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters. They fit like a glove and are often on sale for just $39. I have more pairs than I’d like to admit!
Shoes: I love my Tory Burch Reva flats as much as the next girl but my newest love is my pair of gold sparkly TOMS. Supporting a good cause and channeling Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz at the same time? The best.

Home
Where you live: I’m finishing up my senior year at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, but I’m originally from Darien, Connecticut, a suburban town 45 minutes outside of New York City.
Favorite art: I hope to fill my first apartment with the likes of Janet Hill, Leigh Viner, and Michelle Armas. For artists whose work I seek out in museums, I love Chuck Close and Mark Rothko.
Bedding: I like plain white sheets from Pottery Barn or The Company Store. But one day I’ll splurge on monogrammed bedding from Leontine Linens!
Coffee table books: Domino, Downtown Chic, Glamour: Making It Modern, Gypset Style, Hue, Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens, and People.

Beauty
Perfume: Ralph by Ralph Lauren.
Moisturizer: No one should be taking beauty advice from me — I do most of my beauty shopping in the drugstore! I like Cetaphil, inexpensive and perfect for my sensitive skin.
Mascara: Maybelline’s Collosal mascara is the best I’ve found. It made a difference even my dad could notice!
Shampoo:I like to switch it up. Somehow my hair feels better every time I use a new shampoo! I alternate between lots of drugstore brands but I’m dying to try the Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner. Their anti-frizz serum is fantastic!
Blush: Clinique blush in Cupid.
Lipstick: I’m not much of a lipstick girl. For lip gloss, I swear by L’Oréal’s Colour Juice in Bubble Gum; it’s the perfect tint of pink for my fair skin. But most days I’ll admit it’s just chapstick: Burt’s Bees (with pomegranate!), Nivea, or Soft Lips.

Thank you SO SO much Mackenzie!
