Magic

I went for a bit of Saturday shopping last weekend and I would have liked to end at Anthropologie, I didn't... anyway it wasn't about the clothes, or the jewelry or the home accents, it was about the windows displays, I have been thinking about it for days, curious to know what they have done lately in London (maybe today?). I'm always impressed with the results, I hope they pay big money the window designers!! I MEAN... who doesn't like Anthropologie and their windows, I feel like I'm 5 again drooling outside a toys shop :)
I absolutely love the bikes and the book lanterns!

Weekend!! yay! Enjoy!!

Laundry

I don't think it's the first time I say this (I'm a pretty obsessive person so I tend to come back and forth to the same) I crave a walk in closet, a pantry in the kitchen and a laundry room. Give me that in my next house/apartment and then I'll be happy, ok and a big storage closet (big please) + a big bedroom with an ensuite and a kitchen with an island, and a big balcony or patio... eeeer... I shouldn't go on... anyway to the point... a laundry room, usually not the prettiest space but look at these at Southern Living, don't you feel like doing the laundry? (no me neither, but I had to try...)

Almost weekend time, yoo hoo! Enjoy!

Cat girls

I know thiss old news, but I still wanted to share with all of you. I really like Hello Kitty, yikes! I know, almost 30... so Hello Kitty turned 35 last year and there were many events and paraphernalia going on around the world and all over the Internet, I'm sure you detected something. So eventually, at some point in the summer I stomped across a picture of Kirsten Stewart with Kitty ears, oh I loved it, I have to be honest, so I googled it and found an article at Nylon Magazine and today I found it again in my bookmarks. Eight of the favorite  NYLON girls were bestowed with Hello Kitty's famous ears and bow. Cute -even for an almost 30 year old, ok ok 20 something, ha!

UK's favorite girl is going to the States

Americans get ready, Britain's sweetheart is taking over! Cheryl Cole is coming to the States by the hand of her new mentor, Simon Cowell! We all know Simon Cowell and how influential he is, don't we? Watching American Idol at the moment! Apparently he is planning to bring to the States the X Factor and also his favorite judge, the tiny gorgeous Cheryl. For those who don't know Cheryl joined the judges of the song contest in 2008 and became something like an overnight sensation, yes, we knew who she was (a girlband member) but what we didn't know is that the girl HAS style and is not just another WAG (wife and girlfriend). She had a so so history with fashion (tracksuits, bizarre hair color etc etc) and suddenly here she comes wearing these amazing outfits and being the sweetest person ever. Honestly, YOU WILL LOVE HER! It won't be another Alexa Chung, promise! (i do like Alexa don't take me wrong, but we all knew she wasn't exactly fitting the bill...)

My Stuff series **Down and Out Chic** + 1st Giveaway!

Today I have the honor to introduce Christina who is behind the very popular and extremely stylish Down and Out Chic. I love her motto "Pinching pennies for fashion because you don't have to be rich to live a stylish life" and she is super talented, check out her Etsy store, where she sells handmade vintage inspired jewelry, I couldn't choose to be honest (I finally did, I chose a pair of lovely hair pins), I would have want everything. Her posts are always useful and witty, she wears dresses and likes flea markets, she is a role model to follow for many bloggers out there, and she is the one who introduced me to the Slow Readers Book Club, honestly I couldn't be more grateful, Christina, you are a star, I know you find it difficult to chose favorites, so I really want to thank you for your time.
** And because I love Christina's work so much, I chose one of her pieces as my first giveaway! Read below**

Inspirations
Favorite Discovery:  I recently bought my first racerback bra.  What the heck took me so long?  So comfy, especially under layers.
Favorite Place in the World: Well, I think I’d need to travel more to be able to answer this, but from what I have seen, Costa Rica is a place I wouldn’t mind visiting every chance I got.
Style Icons: When I’m looking for instant inspiration, I go to street style sites like The Sartorialist and Lookbook.nu. I’m currently liking the playfulness of Chloe Sevigny but there’s a part of me that cannot let go of classic icons like Jackie O.
Favorite Designer: Hands down, Marc Jacobs.
Favorite Movie: It should be noted that I have a horrible time coming up with favorites of any kind so this question is particularly difficult.  I will say that repeated viewing of Dirty Dancing got my through my college years...

Clothes
Jeans:  I am a loyal Levi’s fan.  I’m currently trying to break in my new 421s which, for skinny jeans, are as skinny as they get.
Underwear:  I know this is really fancy, but the Target underwear seems to fit me best and depending on what season you’re in, they come up with kitzchy designs (like the Christmas tree underwear I may or  may not be wearing now.)
Watch:  I don’t wear a watch hence why I’m late to everything.
Day dress and day bag: I recently acquired a Kate Spade bag as a birthday gift from B’s mom and grandma. It’s big enough to hold everything for the office and every time I look at it, I feel loved.  As for day dresses, anything from Modcloth or Shopruche.com  will do. I wear dresses 4 days out of the week (at least) and am constantly on the hunt for unique, vintage pieces.
Evening Dress:  There’s not much difference between and evening dress and a day dress for me.  If I’m going out at night, I’ll change up the accessories but I’m not very fussy about it.
Shoes: Currently, I can’t take off my vintage Frye boots that I bartered for (don’t underestimate the power of a good deal) and I’ll wear them with just about anything.  If I’m wearing heels, they better be comfortable.

Home
Inspiration:  Eclectic and comfortable is what we try to shoot for in our home. I like to shop at vintage and flea markets so that we can redo items and make them our own.  I’m inspired by pieces that have a story and are not mass manufactured.
Favorite Art:  I do my best to support local and indie artists as much as possible. We have a growing collection and a couple of different ‘art walls’ in our home.  I have an art degree and B is an excellent draftsman so we have some of our own work in our home as well.
Bedding: Currently, our bedding is a hodge podge of sheets and throws we’ve both collected over time. Ideally, I’d like to have my bed outfitted by Dwell Studio and I’d really like to try the new sheets by American Apparel.
Stationery:  I’m kind of a stationary whore and I like to send “thank you” notes with every order I receive in my Etsy shop.
When I’m not scouring handmade mini notes on Etsy, I shop at Chroniclebooks  for a great supply of fun stationary.
Coffee table books: B received the Onion book for Christmas and it’s hee-larious.  A blog friend recently sent me a copy of Animal House  by Catherine Ledner that I simply love and finally, ‘Domino: The Book of Decorating' is a constant source for inspiration.
Flowers:  Gerber daisies and tulips are my favorite. I like flowers with bold color; they add instant “oomph” to any space.

Beauty
Perfume: I don’t wear perfume, but I promise I don’t smell, at least I hope not.
Moisturizer: Eucerin, especially in the winter months when my skin feels like it’s cracking (ouch).
Mascara: Clinique lash doubling mascara. The size of the brush is just right and it doesn’t clump on my lashes.
Shampoo: Collective Wellbeing Right to Shine, moisture replenishing shampoo.  I’ve been growing my hair out for the past year, and this organic shampoo doesn’t strip my hair and it smells lovely too.
Soap: Dove, white bar.  Simple, effective and cheap.

Christina, I can't thank you enough, it's been a privilege.

I'm gobsmacked with the beauty of these Hermes campaigns for S/S 2010. Pretty, striking, colorful and oh so joyful. And the blues remind me of Greece in the summer, LOVE.

One of my favorite AT house tours

This is by far one of the tour houses at Apartment Therapy that I go over again and again, probably it's not the most spectacular but to me it's one of the most down to earth and beautiful ones together. It has several of my most loved pieces and belongs to interior decorator Lindsay Segal. This house tour made me buy the Liechtenstein that is now proudly hanging over the stairs. And I'll tell you what I love most, Lindsay's mantra "anyone can do budget-friendly in style." Love the plates on the wall, the classic coffee table, the bird cage... well I kind of love most of the apartment.
